Putting french on hold until I'm done with japanese.
I'll give myself 2 more years. 3 if I see legitimate progress that justifies it.
I've spent too much time idling on japanese. It's time to come to terms with the fact I might not become fully fluent and move on.
Exercise. Due to terrible physical condition, the following has only been fully put into practice by early 2020:
Simple dynamic warm-up before any work-out
Riding my bike at least 70 minutes a week
Basic flexibility at least once a week
Simple abdominal work-out at least twice a week
Simple leg work-out at least once a week.
Eat well, drink at least 1L of water outside meals
Tea. Tea provides water and whatever reported benefits of whatever brew I'm having. Two birds with one stone!
Complement with basic supplement stack: broad-range supplement, omega 3 and collagen.
How am I monitoring progress (aka e-stat fraud countermeasures):
For piano and workouts, I always underestimate time spent. Meaning, if I'm riding my bike for 40 minutes, I'll time a 42.5minute ride.
I don't count calories with precision. I hardly changed my diet outside sticking to 3 meals with barely no snacking inbetween.
Instead, I overestimate calories eaten and underestimate calories spent exercising.
If I measure a portion of cereal at 200kcal and its milk at 125kcal, I'll assume my breakfast around 400kcal. The standard bowl is never standard.
Always assume dinner is at least 1000kcal
Rode 18 minutes at 18kmph? There's at least 17 minutes left which I'll take at a brisk, but lower pace. Round down to 14 and calculate from there.
Spent 30 minutes doing calisthenics? How many of those were spent in pauses in between sets and exercises?
Subtract pauses and calculate kcal spent based on light calisthenics or light flexibility MET values, because this was certainly not an overly strenuous activity.
And don't you forget about overestimating seconds spent in pauses! Taking a 60 second pause? Count to 65. Let the body rest as long as it needs if not enough.
I understand that these are very humble goals, but improvement is a gradual process that won't happen overnight.
Starting out of the gate with advanced routines is idiotic and dangerous.
