A refreshing YTMND in the climate of the 00s. I'm far from pious but I never saw the appeal of atheism. These displays of purposeful beauty always compelled me more than the merciless punishments, which I see as one fuel of the atheism fad of the time. No-one wants to be threatened to compliance, much less internet tough guys.
The cultural pendulum has since swung, with equally unpersuasive results.

The mid-00s were a sad time for football -- iconic players in every league retiring en masse, downing the curtain on a seemingly genuine era, ushering in the stat nerds, who took revenge for always getting picked last by covering the vaccuum with a tap-in workaholic and midget pumped full of roids.
